Planning & Budget Committee
The Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø×ÊÁÏ Planning and Budget Committee (PBC) is a standing committee consisting of faculty, staff, executive leadership, and governance delegates. Co-chaired by the provost and vice chancellor for administrative services, this body plays a key role in collecting and reviewing proposals for potential inclusion in Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø×ÊÁÏ’s budget request to the state. Proposals must align with and support student success, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø×ÊÁÏ Strategic Goals, UA Goals and Measures, and NWCCU accreditation standards. Through this process, PBC serves as the primary budget advisory body on Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø×ÊÁÏ’s annual budget proposals.
FY26 State of Alaska and PBC budget process timeline:
- November 2023: RFP for FY26 state funding request announced to Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø×ÊÁÏ Troth Yeddha’ and community campuses. Discuss ideas with your dean/director before submitting a proposal.
- January 2024: Deadline to submit state funding request proposals to Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø×ÊÁÏ OMB. Requests will be forwarded directly to your dean or director.
- February 2024: Deadline for deans and directors to submit their top 2 proposals from their respective units to PBC.
- February-March 2024: PBC convenes to review and rank proposals.
- June 2024: UA President provides FY26 operating and capital budget priorities and guidelines; Governor finalizes the FY25 state of Alaska budget.
- June-September 2024: universities craft FY26 budget requests based on Chancellor and UA System Office (UA SO) feedback.
- September 2024: Board of Regents (BOR) first look at UA FY26 budget request.
- September-November 2024: all universities refine budget requests.
- November 2024: BOR approves the budget request and UA SO submits it to the state; BOR approves any tuition rate changes.
- December 2024: Governor releases budget.
- January 2025-May 2025: FY26 state legislative session.
- June 2025: FY25 concludes.
- July 2025: FY26 begins.
