LGBTQIA2+ Inclusivity
The Nanook Diversity & Action Center is a safe space for people of all identities and experiences. We are committed to the safety and support of our LGBTQIA2+ students through advocacy, action, education and celebration. This site is a resource for all 香港六合彩官网资料 community members to help foster a respectful, diverse, inclusive and caring community for all LGBTQIA2+ people.
The Nanook Diversity & Action Center, in collaboration with community organizations and and student leaders host a number of celebrations and observances to honor our LGBTQIA2+ community, such as:
- Campus Ally Week, September
- LGBTQIA2+ History Month, October
- National Coming Out Day, October 11
- World AIDS Day, December 1st
- Campus Pride Week, April
- LGBTQIA2+ Pride Month, June
Lavender Graduation will be April 8, 2023. Lavender Graduation is an annual ceremony conducted on numerous campuses to honor lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and ally students and to acknowledge their achievements and contributions to the University.
Graduating students, their friends and family are invited to join , where we host guest speakers, award Rainbow honor cords and celebrate our LGBTQIA2+ graduates! Lavender Graduation is held every April.
The Stonewall Living Learning Community (LLC) is a safe and inclusive community for students. Through collaboration with various 香港六合彩官网资料 campus partners and the Fairbanks community, 香港六合彩官网资料's LGBTQ+ student population is supported through connection, education and advocacy.
The Stonewall LLC is located in Bartlett Hall (6th floor) for returning students and Moore Hall(6th floor) for first-year students.
You may have seen a sticker or sign that indicate that a person is a 鈥淪afe Space鈥
or has been 鈥淪afe Zone Trained.鈥 These signs mean a person is open to talking about
and being supportive of LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer/Questioning
+) individuals and identities.
LGBTQ+ folks sometimes question whether they will feel safe, welcomed, or supported
in a new environment. Displaying 鈥淪afe Zone鈥 stickers can help an organization communicate
to others a commitment to creating LGBTQ-inclusive environments.
The goal of a Safe Zone training isn鈥檛 to change a particular space, but to create
people who are invested in creating safe and affirming environments wherever they
go, and providing those people the skills and knowledge they need to do that.
There are a few ways to get involved in SafeZone:

You can request a live virtual workshop for you or your group through our Training Request Form, facilitated by our Diversity & Inclusion Coordinator. You can also become a Safe Zone Trainer by requesting our Train-the-Trainer workshop
- You can participate self-guided Foundational Safe Zone Training online.
Being an ally to the LGBTQIA2+ community is being willing to learn, support and act towards a safe and inclusive university for all. The Be an Active Ally campaign is a great way to educate yourself and others in your residence hall, workplace and other organizations how they can help support our LGBTQIA2+ community.
